How to use System Restore in Windows XP

The operation is very simple. Do any of the following to run System Restore:

Step 1. Open System Restore in Windows Vista.

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Or press the Winke on the keyboard, type Restore then press Enter.

Step 2. Complete the system restoration according to the messages:

How to use System Restore in Windows 7

Follow these steps to return important Windows 7 system files back to a prevous status using System Restore:

  1. Navigate to the Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.
  2. Select System Restore to pop up Restore system files and settings window.
  3. Click Next and choose the restore point that you want.
  4. Click Next and then Finish on the Confirm your restore point window.
  5. In the Once started, System Restore cannot be interrupted. Do you want to continue window, click Yes.
  6. The System Restore will start to restore Windows 7 to the state that was recorded in the restore point you chosen in step 3.
  7. Once the system restoration completed, reboot your computer. You will get a message said that the System Restore completed successfully. Click Close.
